Book Description
That day I knew for sure. I'd lost control of my tears then.
They fell in huge, mocking drops. I stared at Joshua through those bitter
tears, my heart missing beats as I tried to remember to breathe.
I finally knew what the glow meant.
I was a freak and Joshua was going to die.
Bryn Halbrook had always seen the glow. But it is only when
her best friend dies that she discovers the meaning of those beautiful golden
auras — Death. Alone, lost in the foster system, she struggles to understand
who she is and why she was cursed with the ability to see the soon-to-be-dead.
The new foster kid, Aidan, isn’t helping any. Mr. Perfect
seems to fit in no matter what, making her feel even more pathetic. But when
his affections turn to her, Bryn finds him hard to resist. Impossible actually.
A mystery himself, Aidan disappears, leaving behind a broken heart and a
mysterious book that suggests Bryn might not be entirely human.
Bryn stands at the threshold of a journey of discovery. Will
destiny help her find herself, find her purpose and her place in a world in
which she’d never belonged?
Reviews
This is one of my favorite books of the year! The story is fantastic I got so wrapped up in
it I did not even notice how much time went by I read it all in one day. Ayer did an amazing job writing Bryn’s story
and she has a truly beautiful way of blending Norse Mythology into one amazing
book. Dead Radiance will take you on a journey into Norse Mythology that will
leave you begging for more. I highly
recommend this book the action, emotion and suspense will leave you on the edge
of your seat.
Bryn’s been in the foster care system since her father
passed away when she was just a little girl. Being in a new place and a new
foster family would be hard on anyone. She has only one friend and that is Joshua.
But what would you do if you knew that your best friend was going to die? Bryn
has always seen the gold glow… lost in the foster system, she struggles to
understand who she is and why she can see when people will die soon.
When Aidan the new foster kid shows up, He’s handsome,
popular and seems like he is Mr. Perfect. What is more amazing is he seems to
really like her and she also starts to fall for him. But when he just up and
leaves he breaks her heart and not everything is as it appears. When things
start to take a turn for the worse Bryn is hit with news that will change her
life forever. In a journey to discover who she is she must also save the one
she loves before it’s too late.

Review
Dead Embers leaves off right where the 1st book
ends and there’s no break in sight for poor Bryn. With her boyfriend stuck in
Hel and Loki taunting her she is having trouble concentrating on her training. But
Bryn must find a way to save Aiden from the poison but that’s not all there is someone
else who’s been poisoned also and with new warriors dying before they even have
a chance to get to Odin's realm things are not looking good at all. As Ragnarok,
draws closer, Bryn must race ageist the clock to have her foster brother. But
when a person who she trusts with her life try’s to kill her will she survive
to save him or will she die trying to save the ones she loves?
I loved this book just as much as the 1st one if
not more! Bryn is so strong to go through
everything that she has and she is still there standing and willing to do
whatever she needs to, to help him friends and the people she loves even if it
means she may end up dead in the end. Ayer is an amazing writer the way she
makes this story come alive is truly wonderful. I did not want it to end! I
love Bryn so much she is everything you want in a main character, she’s strong,
faithful, loving and will do anything to save the ones she loves and keep them
safe. This series defiantly made my Best reads of 2012.
About the author
I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each others loves – it works wonderfully…
My heart is currently
broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still
remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell
of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never
fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long
White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes.
The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so
torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain crosseyed.
